You can add extra living space in a 3- or 4-season attached room, a detached 3-season room or a garden room (solarium). The most popular and lowest-priced kits are made of vinyl or aluminum frames, in a rectangular shape with straight eaves. Some kits are also available in decorative wood or maintenance-free wood-polymer blends.
There are many features to consider when choosing your sunroom/sunporch kit. What climate are you in? Will you want to use the room all year round? How much sun and shade is in the area where you're planning to build? Do you want the room attached or detached? With glass panes, just screens or both? Many kit manufacturers offer insulated glass, thermal frames, automated ventilation systems and insulating shades as options to create a kit that's just right for you.
You'll find that assembling your own sunroom or sunporch is a cost-efficient, energy-efficient and maximum-enjoyment experience! Be sure to check local zoning codes to see if a building permit is required.
